About us
VandeGrijp specializes in the production of steel pipes, poles and custom constructions. We also rent pipe systems and floating equipment for the onshore and offshore industry. We operate the international market from 2 Dutch operating companies.
VandeGrijp Group is made up of two operating companies that join forces to provide you with the best possible service. Production and head office are located in Papendrecht, in a strategic location close to the A15/16, on the Beneden Merwede, with a direct connection to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
VandeGrijp IGS is a leader in heavy steel constructions. We make tubes, cylinders, cones and shells, and we also assemble drums, bodies, reducers and complete spreaders to order. With a workshop of 8,000 m2 and our own port with roll-on-roll-off quay on more than eight hectares of private land, we can handle any assignment. From unique design to large-scale series production, from high-quality material to simple steel, we deliver results in every format.
VandeGrijp Rental offers customized support for infrastructural works. With more than sixty kilometers of pipeline system in stock, and a fleet of split barges, pontoons and elevator barges immediately available on the river, we always find a suitable solution for a temporary problem.

Production capacity
VandeGrijp offers plenty of room to think big and grow. We have an area of 85,000 m2 with our own working quay and three separate production halls. We use the production hall with the largest surface area (3,000 m2) for limited series construction and specialist pieces, and in the smallest hall (1,500 m2) we produce pipes in the factory, up to 4.5 kilometers per month. The third location (2,600m2) is suitable for the production of large pipes and pipe constructions due to its great height.

Our Team
History

1928EstablishmentThe company Fa. A v/d Grijp is started. The company sells and rents flat top barges and houseboats. These are built and repaired at its own yard.

1945Start of a New CompanyAt the end of the war, there is not much of a fleet left. Most vessels that can still be located are either heavily damaged or sunk. Fa. A v/d Grijp decides to light its own vessels and repair them. By doing this, more orders are coming its way, requiring expansion of the yard. A move is required.

1952Space for GrowthFa. A v/d Grijp buys 6 hectares of marshland in the early 1950’s, where they construct a harbor and a 1000 m2 fabrication hall.

1953N.V. Scheepswerf & Machinefabriek v/h A. Van De GrijpThe new premises warrant a new company. The firm’s name is officially changed and focuses on repair and construction of dredging equipment. At this location, 15 vessels are constructed and kilometers of dredge line.

1960Building for ProgressAt the beginning of the decade in the 60’s, more fabrication halls are built and submerged arc welding (SAW) is introduced. Anything is done to increase modernization and firmly establish innovation in the company.

1970New Location AgainIn August 1970 the company moves again. An even larger location is found in Papendrecht where a new pipe mill is built, including a few homes. In 1971, a new hall is built for shipbuilding. This hall is currently being used as our fabrication hall No. 2.

1988Revolutionary DevelopmentVandeGrijp is innovative and shows that by investing in the most compact pipe mill in the world at its present location, directly connected to hall No. 2.

2011Fabrication Hall XLTo accommodate the increase in size throughout the industry, VandeGrijp opens a new hall with height for tubes up to 10 meters in diameter and 150 mm wall thickness.

2014Roll-On Roll-OffThe latest investment to serve our customers, is a Ro-Ro quay which enables easy loading onto (seagoing) barges, for destinations anywhere in the world.
